Welcome
Welcome to Skip's Painting. My name
is Skip. I have been painting houses in
northeast New Jersey, New York, and
Connecticut since 1982, and have gone as far
as Vermont, the Poconos, and Cape Cod, to
paint the vacation homes of some of my
customers in New Jersey. I am a member of the
Bergen County Mastercraftsman Paint and Paper
Association, and live in my hometown of
Rochelle Park. My specialty is interior
painting and paperhanging, but I am also an
amateur portrait artist, writer, and
musician, and have listed other sites at the
bottom of this page where I have posted my
artwork, short stories, and music. Skip Van Lenten
You can reach me by e-mail for housepainting or
portrait work, or call or text me anytime at:
(201)-406-3933
I am always available for free
estimates, or to discuss any decorating or
design plans you may have for your home or
business, and I'm always free to answer any
questions you may have by phone about
painting or paperhanging..

There are two paints that I try to
use exclusively on my jobs, Benjamin Moore,
and Muralo. Muralo was one of the first to
introduce acrylic formulas as a substitute
for latex paint, but Benjamin Moore has a
wider range of choices, and has recently
converted their line of colors to acrylics as
well. For more information on acrylic paints,

Portraits
I started doing oil portraits in
1983, just before the Christmas holidays, and
have been doing them in my spare time ever
since.
One of my favorites is the portrait
I did of this boy in 1995. I generally try to
make my portraits as lifelike as possible,
but in this case, I had been on prednisone
for several months for a major illness, and
found that my perception of things had
changed. As a result, this portrait seems
more like a caricature than anything else
I've done, but I like it for that reason, and
because it captures both the intensity and
the innocent look on the boy's face.

www.skipsportraits.com
I use
this site for most of my artwork, portraits,
photographs, and prints.
www.skipvanlenten.com
I enjoy
writing stories about growing up in New
jersey in the 50's, and most of them have
been published in the Our Town newspaper. You
can find a small collection of them at
skipvanlenten.com.
www.worldwidejam.com
Another
writing project of sorts, going back to the
days when we listened to music on 45's and
LP's, and looking forward to what might be
available in the future. Also, planning to
upload songs to the site in the future.

I've
been playing guitar since I was 12, and
always enjoyed the simple sounds of acoustic
folk and gospel music. There are only a few
songs on this site so far, but when we have
more time, Pete and I will add some newer
things.
www.betterphoto.com
Betterphoto.com
is an interesting site for anyone who likes
photography. It is a series of galleries from
different photographers, with a lot of
information and tips, and an opportunity to
comment on the photos. This link will take
you to my gallery, which features some of my
newer photos. To return to Skip's Painting,
