About Us

I started painting houses professionally in the summer of 1982, when I moved to the small town of Kent, Connecticut. I was hired by a friend of mine to paint an old barn that he rented for his landscaping business. It was his way of repaying the landlord for the use of the barn, and since I had just returned from California, and had no other work lined up, I jumped at the chance. I hadn't planned on becoming a housepainter, but one thing led to another, and before I knew it, I was "booked up" for the rest of the summer. In a small town like Kent, word gets around very easily, and the quality of your work is always your best--and sometimes your only--advertisement. I was fortunate enough to catch the eye of enough people in the area to register a trade name and start my own business.

In 1998, I moved down to New Jersey to live in my hometown of Rochelle Park, and had to start all over again, in more ways than one. I became a single parent in '99, and took any kind of work I could find to support my son and myself, often working for friends or family members until I could get established. Now that the years have gone by, and my son is already a teenager, I find the same thing I learned in rural Connecticut holds true for a busy area like Bergen County, the quality of your work is always your best advertisement. And we can fish here too.

New Jersey recently passed a law requiring all home improvement contractors to register with the state and become licensed. A registered home improvement contractor is your best bet for any work you need to have done, with the backing of the consumer protection agency..
